Her roots are from Santa Barbara, California, where she was raised by parents who are Christian pastors. During her childhood, she only listened to gospel music and even sang in church. She obtained her GED during her freshman year in high school before embarking on a music career. Initially known as Katy Hudson, she released a gospel album under her stage name in 2001, which unfortunately failed due to the closure of its record label. She then collaborated with The Matrix and recorded an album from 2004 to 2005, followed by a solo album, but none of these recordings saw the light of day.
