It’s been 21 years since Jennifer Lopez received a Golden Globe nomination, this time for her role as the stripper Ramona in the movie Hustlers. The last time she was recognized by the Hollywood Foreign Press was back in 1998 for her portrayal of the late Tejano singer Selena, who was tragically murdered by a fan turned fan club manager.

Two British actors are up for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama: Christian Bale for Ford v Ferrari and Jonathan Pryce for The Two Popes. The critically-acclaimed war film 1917, directed by Sam Mendes, has been nominated for Best Motion Picture – Drama.

Helen Mirren is in the running for Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her role in Catherine the Great. Netflix, known for its successful shows like Marriage Story, The Irishman, Chernobyl, The Crown, and Unbelievable, received the most nominations on Monday.

Unfortunately, there were no female nominees in the best director category. The Irishman was named best film by both the New York Film Critics Circle and the National Board of Review, while Marriage Story was a big winner at the IFP Gotham Awards.

Actress Dakota Fanning, ‘This Is Us’ star Susan Kelechi Watson, and Golden Globe winner Tim Allen announced this year’s nominations from the Beverly Hilton hotel.

Comedian Ricky Gervais will be hosting the awards ceremony for the fifth time. Known for his humor, he has won several awards himself, including three Golden Globes, two Primetime Emmys, and seven BAFTAs.

Last year’s hosts were Sandra Oh and Andy Samberg, but this year, Gervais will take the reins.

The Golden Globes are voted on by members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a group of journalists.

The 2020 Golden Globes, celebrating its 77th year, will be held at the Beverly Hills Hilton. The nominations were broadcasted on the official Facebook page and the Golden Globes website.

Tune in on Sunday, January 5th, at 8pm ET to catch the ceremony live on NBC. It’s sure to be a star-studded event!
